Canon Character Application
My name is Meg and I am 20 years old. I want to join this site because this idea of an alternate universe seems pretty damn awesome. I have been roleplaying for YEARS OF ROLEPLAYING EXPERIENCE HERE and I normally post between the NORMAL AMOUNT OF WORDS PER ROLEPLAYING POST HERE mark. Here is my application:
Character name: Denmark (human name Bernd Sørensen)
Age: physically around 24-26 years old. Nationwise 1,400 or more (depending what moment one choses to count as ‘establishment’ of Denmark)
Appearance:
His human name might stand for ‘brave as a bear’ and in terms of appearance Denmark is certainly build as one. Being the second tallest Nordic brother (and for a long time he indeed had been the tallest before Sweden had his growth spurt) he still stands on a quite an impressive height, however as it would seem that he had gained a pound for each inch he grew during his youth he had never really been lanky; broad-shouldered and rather muscular, which can be largely attributed to Denmark’s love of a good fight and frequent indulgence in the matter in the past.
Denmark hair pretty much mirrors his personality; it’s wild and resists most attempts of taming (hell even his eyebrows are a bit bushy). Much like his younger brothers Denmark’s blond, though the hue is nearer sandy blond than platinum. He had often been told that he doesn’t look like his brothers as much as one would expect. Unlike Norway, Iceland or even Sweden his complexion’s rather ruddy and considerably more tanned due to many sea escapades in the past, not to mention he definitely has more facial expressions in stock.
Personality:
Contrary to popular belief Denmark is not really a monster, if one were to classify him (which would be a difficult task all in itself) he would most likely figure under ‘happy-go-lucky sociopath’. He’s one of those good people that end up doing really bad things due to …lack of proper calculation, while still meaning well. Bernd is possibly the living proof that hell is indeed paved with good intentions.
Denmark’s positively tireless, which makes him an incredibly resistant warrior. He’s probably the most energetic and painfully optimistic man you will ever have the blessing (and the misfortune) to meet, frankly he’s what Prussia would be like…on crack. Denmark’s open and friendly, a good companion in battle, and in an inn with the addition of being a rather charismatic leader of his people. However, he’s also loud, obnoxious and has the overwhelming air of an older brother; often being overprotective without actually consulting any of the parties involved in his ‘protection programme’ and he usually assumes (wrongly!) that it would all be in everyone’s best interest to just do what he says. This dominant trait might happen to be helpful when the situation requires for someone to take over and make decisions with iron will (or hand, depending how you see it) but is rather problematic in social relations and he’s likely to beat you up to a pulp because ‘it’s for your own good’.
Occupation: knight; but more of the rogue type than the kind France would write chanson de geste about, he’s more likely to be a paid soldier or an assassin than follow a knightly code of conduct. Not to mention he’ll take up any job involving beating Sweden to a bloody pulp.
Strengths:
-physical strength
-resistant (to pain, tiredness)
-energetic (read:hyperactive)
-skilled warrior
-open-minded
-charismatic
-he forms friendships and alliances quite easily and will not allow prejudice dictate his policy; he’ll sign a pact with
-surprisingly, he is is actually quite creative (OOC: the Danes are all about design, I thought I could throw that in)
Weaknesses:
-stubborn
-not that good at listening
-not all that good with empathy either
-has attention span of a fruit fly, which initially leads to him being:
-a little bit dense
