((OMGOMG! I finally finished it! I'm soooo sorry this took so long, America. ~<3 Also, I added an appearance section, as there didn't seem to be one... =/ Anyway!!))
My name is Frika! and I am 21 years old. I want to join this site because I am your China! And now I must be more. I have been roleplaying for nine years and I normally post between the three to five paragraph mark. Here is my application:
Full Character Name: Arianna Mattea Vargas
Representing Country: Vatican City
Age: Looks 16
Gender: Female
Religion: Catholic
Sexuality: Straight
Status: Single (but considers herself married to Jesus)
Occupation: Cleric
Strengths: Arianna has a very strong faith. So strong that it will see her through most emotional and spiritual dilemmas. And it gives her an extra boost to her magical abilities, believing that strongly in something.
Also, she is physically strong as well, and well-trained to protect herself, as her army is one of the best and most well-trained in the world.
She is a fantastic judge of art and something of an artist herself. As well as a singer. All forms of the arts are her forte, so long as they pay some tribute to the Lord.
Weaknesses: Being so absorbed in her faith, Arianna is closed-minded to most things that do not fit within her belief system.
She is also very judgmental of people. The moment they do something that she sees as “wrong”, she is quick to believe that they are evil in some way or working against God.
Also, she has violent reactions against people that do not believe what she does, often deciding that if she cannot convert them (which she tries like hell to do!), they might as well be dead, because they are a threat to her beliefs.
Personality: Arianna is a very kind, gentle girl. Her only desire is to bring faith and love to the world through the Lord, Jesus Christ. She is always happy to take in the needy and help the poor. Her words are gentle and calming, and she prefers to speak passionately than to resort to fist-fights.
However, the moment someone turns against her belief, she becomes violent and defends herself by taking out the threat to her own ideals. She can be very cruel when the need arises, and makes herself feel better about it by claiming that it was God’s will. She also claims to have an actual communion with God, and can sometimes be seen talking, as if to an invisible spirit - who might, in fact, truly be God for all anyone can tell.
Backstory: Arianna started her life out as the Papal States. The site of her home was decorated by various pieces of art from all over the world - including Egypt - and originally, her home was the site for many pagan buildings and ideals. It was here that St. Peter was crucified, upside down, and decided to form the church of Christ. Most of the pagan structures in Vatican City were lost when St. Peter’s Basilica was built - and this is the main church of the Catholic religion to this day. Through the centuries, the various Popes have ruled over her land. In 1870, Rome was united with the rest of Italy, but the Vatican City rebelled briefly, demanding that the Pope still have reign over their area. The Italian law adhered to this. 1929 was the year when it declared its independence from the rest of Italy, becoming its own country entirely, with the Pope ruling over all. However, the Italian government did not hesitate to confiscate church property outside of Vatican City’s walls. This problem was finally resolved in 1984, at which point Roman Catholicism was also named the state religion of Italy.
Appearance: Arianna looks very much like her older brothers, Lovino and Feliciano. Her hair is a chestnut brown and falls in lightly curling waves halfway down her back, and her eyes are golden in color. Her skin is fair. She is rather short, standing at 5’0” even, and small-boned and very thin. So she poses a very unimposing figure, but her face and eyes can darken when she is angered in some way. Typically, she wears various priest’s robes, as well as nun’s habits. Though, sometimes she simply dresses in a simple, beautiful dress. Also, she has a small curl, just like her brothers, that starts in the middle of her forehead and simply forms a small curly right on top of her head.
Sample Post:
Arianna loved Sundays most of all days. It was the one day of the week when she had full communion with her Lord, and that thought in and of itself brought solace to her. It was on this day, every week, that she donned her habit - something she had long since stopped wearing regularly, mostly because of its restricting, peaceful connotations, something she could not afford when she herself sometimes needed to be demanding, forceful, and violent.
But today, she could wear the habit and feel like a nun once again, married to the Lord and completely in his heart.
Stepping out of her home, Arianna folded her hands in her sleeves and began the slow trek towards St. Peter’s Basilica. This was where she prayed weekly, giving thanks to the Lord and praising him for all his accomplishments. The walk to the church was always eventful in a wonderful way. People would greet her with smiles, and many would offer her things - because she was a nun in their eyes, a wonderful woman who helped their people. Not to mention a blessed nun, who had often healed their sick and their wounded, using her clerical gifts to help them as much as she possibly could.
How little they truly knew, she thought idly, returning their smiles. But she was alright with being just a nun.
Because “just a nun” was an understatement. She was proud of the women who served her Lord, her religion. And she would give anything to simply be one of them again. But she was a nation now, and there was so much she had to share with the world…
