Canon Character Application
My name is Chocolove and I am 15 years old. I want to join this site because it looks like an interesting rp forum and I really like to rp with different people! It's like a story you make with friends!. I have been roleplaying for ....two weeks...But I'm active. As in, I'm the type of person who obsesses and checks things 15 times a day. and I normally post between the 800-1000 character mark. Here is my application:
Character name: Elise Peeters
Age: 21
Appearance:
Elise is about average height, if not a tad on the shorter side. Her eyes are emerald green and her hair is a golden blond, not exactly curly, but wavy down to her shoulders. She is never seen without her trademark ribbon in her hair. A friendly and cheerful girl, she has an odd sort of bubbly smile that is contagious.
As far as clothes go, she can be typically seen in a dress that matches her headband. Out of the few dresses she owns, her favorite has a white top with a red flowing skirt that comes down to her knees. Not exactly wealthy, she only has one pair of shoes, which are a pair of black lace-up boots.
Personality:
Elise has a cheerful and innocent personality for the most part, unless she's been knocking back a few beers. Once they're down the hatch, her naive disposition is said to disappear and she becomes quite the giggling tease, showing her true colors. Make no mistake, Elise knows she has a pretty face and will use it to her advantage if the need arises.
Elise isn't afraid to get her hands dirty, making her a hard-working sort of girl that respects a strong work ethic. She is extremely curious, always desperate for news about her brother, and it can be a problem at times, leading her into trouble or danger.
A tad sensitive, it's well-known that Elise can be pushed around easily. Although she will try to stick up for herself and say how she really feels, she is far too polite and hates coming off as rude, thus making her a bit of a pushover.
She doesn't stand out much in a crowd, but alone she is known to make an impression.
Occupation: Works as a barmaid. Really a witch with a secret.
Strengths: One thing Elise always has going for her is her optimism. The other is her face. Sure, being cheerful and looking on the brightside has managed to get her through the tough times, but she also knows that her looks are a great asset to her. Old enough to be fair game, but young enough to look sweet and innocent. She's not above using it to get what she wants.
Weaknesses: Overly curious. She can't help it. If there's information to be known, she wants to know it. She is also pushed around easily, due to her inability to say no and fear of disappointing people. Another weakness of hers is her magical ability is not as good as it should be for a witch her age because she never practices.
Backstory:
Elise was born in a field of flowers to a group of magic users that specialized in defensive and healing spells. Flowers, especially tulips, seemed to bloom as far as the eye could see, creating an ocean of pink, yellow, and orange. It was as if nothing could go wrong in their little village at the foot of a grand mountain, secluded from the rest of the world. No other towns were around for miles, for good reason, but Elise had no idea why, nor did she particularly care.
She was a happy child, living with her elder brother and learning magic from their parents. Sure, sometimes she would fight with her brother, and a lot of times he pushed her around, but he also took care of her and she held a special place in her heart for him. They had that typical sibling relationship.
Then they came. Goblins, demons, ogres, and all sorts of other nasty, brutish creatures.
It had become known that a group of magic users living in a valley that was always blooming with tulips had developed a special bodily function dating back from ancient times. Some say it was a powerful spell cast upon their blood, with the intent to be useful sacrifices in times of war. Others claimed it was a trait of inheritance, having been passed around through centuries until it could safely be said every person in the village had this magical ability, even if they weren't talented in the ways of magic at all.
Whatever it was, it had become a curse.
If one were to eat the heart of a magic user from Elise's village, their power would increase ten fold.
Well, of course when evil creatures caught wind of this, they had no remorse. The village was slaughtered during a raid, the inhabitants shocked and stupefied, unprepared for such a hoard. How could their secret have possibly gotten out when not even many of the villagers knew of it?
Even with all their knowledge of defensive and healing spells, the village was crushed with the majority having had their hearts cut out and eaten on the spot or carried away to serve out the same duty at a later date.
The few that managed to escape are still hunted to this day, fearing for their lives.
Elise is one of those survivors, managing to escape by diving into a pond and staying hidden under the water, coming up for air only when absolutely necessary, and fearing for her life every time she did so. Eventually she swarm passed and she managed to drag herself back onto land, coughing and sputtering, waterlogged beyond belief.
Torn away from her brother, she is not sure if he is alive or not. All she knows is that she has never used magic since that day, fearful someone would discover what she is and where she comes from. She has vowed to never use magic again, and has kept to her promise. Due to this, she is extremely rusty and hardly skilled in the art of magic.
Currently, Elise works at a tavern, having decided that it is the best place to pick up information. Her ears are always open for news about her brother.
But hearing who slept with whom and watching people dance stupidly on tables is a nice perk as well.
Sample Post: (from Mansiontalia, also as Belgium)
Elise had been startled, to say the least, when she entered her home to find it filled with her dearest friends, golden balloons, and sparkling champagne. They even had some of the finest desserts laid out on a table, a large cake wishing her a happy birthday from afar.
She tossed the groceries in her hands aside quickly, placing them on a tiny table to the left of their front door. And to think those bags were filled with beer, chocolate, and a brand new waffle iron she had bought out of self-pity since nobody had wished her a single "happy birthday" all day...Well, now she knew why, she thought to herself as Antonio gave her a large hug and kissed both her cheeks.
In no time she was dancing around like a blissful child, laughing and giggling all the while. She wasn't sure who had planned such an event, but she had an idea. Her brother may not be crowding around her like the others were, but she knew he was having a smoke somewhere in the shadows.
Once she had been worn out from all the dancing and helped herself to an especially enticing slice of cheesecake, she wandered away from the rest of the party attendees, seeking her brother. Like she had assumed, he was watching the events with mild interest, a cigarette planted firmly between his teeth.
"Hendrik?" she called to him, getting his attention before reaching up to kiss both his cheeks, mindful of the fag still aglow. "Thank you...It's a lovely gift."
And then she smiled and scampered away to join Antonio in a rather lively dance.
Really, her brother was something else.
Belgium is love!
