Canon Character Application
My name is coldcappuccino/dani and I am too young for you and too old for everybody else years old. I want to join this site because it reminded me of Final Fantasy and it's Hetalia...'nuff said. I have been roleplaying for Four years? Five? Six if I'm counting the newbie days and I normally post between the 200-above (depending on my mood and what kind of character I'm using. If it's only a little over 200, then I'm having a bad day) mark. Here is my application:
Character name: Gilbert Weillschmidt ; Prussia
Age: Looks to be about 25 or 26 years old but definitely more than a few hundred years have passed.
Appearance: Short white-blond hair isn't easily spotted so early in the morning when the fog is out, which makes a quick getaway easy enough for him at that time. His eyes are red in color and stand out the most against pale skin. His hands are quite rough with the heavy workload he's so used to doing and the ever-unavoidable scars from little disputes he had to go through around places with the more violent type of people --not that he would go for settling down for a talk on matters, he isn't the type. A particular scar has made home to his side, just right above his hip from when His body is of lithe build, for carrying heavy things but with swift movement. An iron cross hangs around his neck over his clothes --only removing it when he has to bathe, lest he forgets.
Personality: Gilbert is smarter than he looks (and sounds). He often voices out the safer thoughts --or insults and never relents doing so to choice people in the government. He carries a dagger with him for caution and keeps a rusting old sword at his house because he sees no use for it, not wanting to attract that kind of attention when he's out, which he is more often than not. He has a strong personality and never backs down for a fight, however, his strength as a person is tentative and being human, he is susceptible to feel the normal emotions of one. Gilbert is stubborn and will hold his ground for as long as he possibly can, until the very last drop of sweat, ignoring whatever pain may come his way so as long as he wins and is able to say he fought his best. The man will never, ever settle for a tie of sorts and firmly plants his belief on the fact that if one does not prevail above all else then one has lost to something higher, something stronger than he is --may it be figurative or not.
He isn't the type to settle down because of the frequent traveling he likes to do, finding it more important than establishing "lasting relationships", believing that all they're good for is being bothersome. This also explains why he likes working independently, not wanting to take on any "partners" or even something akin to a protege.
When he does things with great accuracy, not wanting anything to be out of place while he works or his plan fails and he thinks that by stealing from little merchant stores or seeing people around that he knows and asking for food or money, he saves his own.
Occupation: A thief doing a few odd jobs here and there for people, given that he needs money for something. He's become accustomed to being paid for doing the dirty work but likes to think that it's for himself rather than anyone else. He's got quite the reputation with guards around places he's been to and because of that, it takes a lot to get him to go back to a place he's already "visited". He does those missions for others, in hopes of finding old relics along the way for himself. There are times when his employer asks him to get something he would need for himself and should such an occassion rise, he would take it and flee without a glance back.
Strengths: Gilbert is good at doing all the jobs he's assigned to as he is physically strong. He does an exceptional job of standing his job and getting his way. He is skilled in different sorts of things and has a knack for remembering bits and pieces about history on top of his head, knowing them before one can whip out a book and flip it open.
A good number of people think his manner of speaking is quite endearing. Lastly, he is a talented swords man --although he does leave the only sword he has at home.
Weaknesses: In the other things that pertain to academics, he is quite lost --not in the sense that he's stupid but in things that he doesn't like, Gilbert gets lazy. He gets annoying with the way he talks sometimes. He knows it and exploits it to best of his abilities. He is prone to panicking (but recovers at least) --though it doesn't change the fact that his strong exterior crumbles even for the briefest moments, he has yet to find out that the walls are beginning to crack.
He's really bad at music, never played an instrument in his entire life because he can't sit down long enough to learn how to play one. His penmanship is really bad, which is why Gilbert doesn't write letters.
Backstory: The one to teach him was his 'Father Figure' of sorts, Old Man Fritz, who Gilbert came back to every now again, when travelling got lonely or when he would need a place to hide for awhile. As a child, he was quite unreserved and could never keep his cool, thus, getting into countless fights and black-eyes when he got home. As he grew up in the care of his the old guy, he learned how to save, be civil and hold his own in better ways. Other than the old man, Gilbert deemed himself close to only one other person in the world, Ludwig, his younger brother of sorts. His relationship with Roderich and Elizavita is quite unstable and will always will be...probably.
Gilbert never took well to groups or being in one, the only group he'd ever grown into once upon a time was a small band of thieves with a robinhood-esque way of life. He took on the aforementioned career with some sort of code of conduct to himself, saying that he would do this for personal gain and not in the name of anyone else. He would do such to make himself prosper and grow.
Sample Post: Little is known about the man who lurks in the shadows of the rising sun as fogs starts to build up in the early morning streets. The people of this quaint little town, know though, that wherever he was the previous night was not 'the place to be' and right now, his goals were to leave and hope not to be found for another decade or so...or heaven forbid, until he dies.
Gilbert drew in a heavy breath as he stalked the streets, his rucksack slung over his shoulder felt heavier this time as compared to his older escapades. He clutched the strap of it tightly as he silently brisk-walked the cobblestone path that (hopefully) lead to the outskirts of the town but as time passed, it seemed as if he’d been walking for hours, not a single gate or any point of exit in sight. He craned his neck, trying to ease the tension but the sweat that had started to build up on his forehead, trickling down pale cold flesh became nearly unbearable. Times like this were rare but he knew enough that it would come up in times like this. Heavy-duty missions with something he needed for himself. It was the after-effect of doing the dirty work for government officials and running away with the prize they both eyed at the same time. Gilbert liked to think he had a second head start before anyone else. That, however, did nothing for the nervousness settling down in his stomach.
He figured his brother would love taking a stab at that but taunting was beyond Ludwig. Tutting, was more like it. A light scolding that would fall onto deaf ears. Sometimes he would regret not listening for the briefest of moments but the feeling would be gone.
The feeling was already gone as the dawn shed light on the now dirt laden path he took, the dust on his boots visible to bright, though very tired, red eyes. He sighed in relief as rows of trees came into view and right at the start of another path leading to another far off land told him to ‘COME BACK NEXT TIME!’ He shook it off with a snort but lurched when he saw something he didn't expect to see.
Not in this sort of place or time.
They stood alert, in all sense of the word. A good handful of them were searching around, eyes darting left and right, here and there.
Gilbert retreated silently, as much as possibly could, the anxiety returning to put more weight on his shoulders.
“Nothing gets past you, huh, Austria.”
Notes: First things first. About putting Austria in here, I sort of pictured him as a government official of sorts~ it's just a sample post and I needed a random character XD Age confusion too, btw. Cause in other auditions they're all about a hundred years old and well...Prussia kind of...doesn't exist anymore D: he doesn't even have a birthday...so yeah. Still confused. The 'small band of thieves' were the Teutonic Knights. XD I just didn't know what to say (Teutonic Thieves LOLFTW) ~ he was supposed to be a government official because of the Prussian virtues but I decided that the thief idea in my head seemed interesting. :D PRUSSIA IS LOVE, isn't he? 8D
