Canon Character Application
My name is ohmygoditsamber and I am 19 years old. I want to join this site because I know America. I have been roleplaying for 5-ish years and I normally post between the I don’t know. About 2 paragraphs. mark. Here is my application:
Character name: Matthew Williams
Age: Appears to be 19
Appearance:
Wavy blonde hair and blue eyes with a curly strand of hair that hangs in front of his face. He wears glasses, just like his brother Alfred and he is often mistaken for his brother. Usually seen wearing red and white, as they are his favorite colors. He carries a red summoner’s staff.
Personality:
Matthew is very shy and soft spoken and sadly, he lets people walk all over him at times. The only person he has been able to get into an argument successfully with has been his brother and surprisingly, he’s able to make Alfred cry at times.
Even though he gets annoyed at being mistaken for Alfred, he’s gotten rather used to it and after all, they are twins.
He enjoys sweets and is often seen with his polar bear, Kumajirou, even though he usually forgets the bear’s name and the bear forgets his name.
Occupation:
- Shiva
- A phoenix
- A beaver (what? They’re cute!)
Strengths:
- Kind hearted.
- Rational thinker
- Invisibility (for being sneaky)
- Good with animals (he does have a pet polar bear after all…)
- Unaffected by the cold
- Strong, like Alfred (though he prefers peace to violence)
Weaknesses:
- Invisibility (for when he wants people to notice him but they don’t)
- Too shy at times
- Not too good at physical fighting
- Too trusting at times
Backstory:
Matthew and Alfred have no idea who their parents were, because they were abandoned as children and raised by the head of the village they grew up in. Because of their abandonment, they are not sure of how old they really are, though the village head believes they were a year old when found and that was eighteen years ago. They also gave themselves surnames, hence the difference in their family names.
As they grew, Matthew discovered his ability as a summoner and befriended a polar bear cub and Alfred discovered his fascination with firearms. They were encouraged to pursue their talents and since they are still so young, they’re always improving.
When the twins were twelve years of age, Alfred had grown bored with the small village and convinced Matthew to come with him on an adventure. Matthew, still at the age where he depended on his twin for everything, quickly agreed and left the village with his brother.
After a few months, they met two young men named Arthur and Francis, who helped them out and let them stay with them. Matthew enjoyed Francis’ cooking, because the man made good food and lots of sweets. He enjoyed hearing the stories that Arthur told, but over time, Alfred became more attached to Arthur and started paying less attention to his twin. Naturally, this upset Matthew and there were many nights where he cried himself to sleep but Francis always managed to cheer him up.
At sixteen, Alfred got into a terrible fight with Arthur that lasted for roughly a month. It was painful to watch and in the end, Alfred left the three of them behind. Devastated at how their little family had fallen apart, Matthew and his pet bear Kumajirou went off on their own to try and find Alfred.
Two years passed and now the twins were eighteen years old and finally reunited. Matthew had yelled at Alfred and cried, all the while hugging him tightly. They promised each other to stay together and decided to look for Francis and Arthur again.
Sample Post:
Sighing, Matthew ran up the hill after his brother, panting softly and wondering where all of Alfred’s energy came from. He came to a stop beside his brother, who had made it up the hill much faster than he had.
“God, Mattie! You’re so slow!” Alfred laughed loudly and Matthew just frowned at him, before picking up Kumajirou. The bear growled softly, not having appreciated the mad dash up the hill for apparently no reason.
“Really, Alfred, you need to be careful and not rush off alone all the time!” Though Alfred would never listen to him and Matthew sometimes wondered why he even bothered.
Looking around from the top of the hill, he smiled at the snowy scenery before them. Snow was so beautiful and clean… He couldn’t understand why Alfred hated it so much, simply because it was cold. Didn’t he know how wonderful the cold was?
Still smiling, Matthew turned back to his brother and rolled his eyes at the stupid grin Alfred wore. As annoying as Alfred could be, Matthew envied how happy his brother always seemed to be. It was probably one of the reasons Alfred overshadowed him, though he never minded.
“Now, what was so important that you had to run up here?”
