Canon Character Application
My name is Kagami and I am 16 years old. I want to join this site because I love Hetalia , to the point where my life is now all about it, and this forum looks really interesting! Especially the fantasy part. I have been roleplaying for sadly, zero years. This will be my first experience in roleplaying if I got accepted and I normally post between the 100 and up, hopefully. It depends on the situation. mark. Here is my application:
Character Name: Lovino Vargas ( South Italy )
Age: 22 or 23 years old from the appearance. But definitely older beyond your imagination.
Appearance: Lovino has straight dark-brown colored hair and a curl that seemed to defy gravity. His eyes are a mix of green and brown. He’s not too tall and his body isn’t what you could say ‘well-built’. His skin is very lightly tanned.
What Lovino wears is usually what’s on top of his pile of clothes. He never really cared about what he wears as long as he didn’t stand out in the crowd wearing that, because if he WERE to stand out in the crowd, it would interfere with his work.
Personality: Rude. That one word could sum up most of Lovino’s personality from outsider’s perspective. Inside, he’s caring, but that part of him rarely comes up since he has a really high pride. He tends to use sarcasm when talking. Another thing that’s worth to be mentioned is Lovino’s strange love, if not obsession, toward tomatoes.
Occupation: A thief, or to be exact, a pickpocket. Even though his little brother always told him that taking other people’s possession is bad, he had no other choice. Lovino had once tried to use magic, only to have it backfired on him. And technology is out of options as well, because he has not enough money for it. His weapon of choice is a pair of daggers.
Strengths: Lovino’s strength has always been his hands, which he’s very skillful with. And his ability in running away had proven to be useful because it seems like he had a knack for getting into trouble. He’s protective towards those he cared and his skill in cooking can’t be underestimated.
Weaknesses: “Your mouth is your door to trouble.” Peoples around him always told him that due to his rude way of talking ( which, almost, always includes swearing and curses ). But, all those words, prayers, sermons and orders for him to change his way of talking never seemed to get into his head. The other weaknesses include: aggressiveness, hot-headedness, and laziness. He’s also a bit shy although he put a fierce façade in front of people he just knew.
Backstory: Ever since little, Romano had always facing hardships. He was separated from his little brother when they were still very young and often becomes the target of bullying of the other stronger nation around him.
Romano’s first memory was that of living under Spain’s rule. He knew that he had lived under several houses before finally living under Spain, but he could never recall the memories of living under others before Spain. It was all blurry and hazy. But, Romano didn’t mind it. He had lived long under Spain and throughout time, he adopted many of Spain’s culture and laidback way of life, even shared the same kind of obsession towards tomatoes with the Spaniard. He developed a certain fondness toward the Spaniard too, but it’s not like he’s going to show it in front of him ( or anyone, if that matters ). And thus, imagine how shocked he was when he found out that he was going to be traded to Austria during the War of the Spanish Succession.
But, the trade had also brought him a benefit. He became independent. Not long after that, France defeated him and forced him to live with him. But that too didn’t last long.
He was united with his brother after that. But Veneziano had changed so much.
While Romano still hold onto the traditional way, Veneziano had became adapted with the modern way. And that often resulted in fight between them. However, they do come into terms with each other after a while.
It was during that time that Romano realized how outdated he was. Even though he shares the same level of magic with Veneziano, the technology that Veneziano used had resulted in him having a better life than Romano, who still struggles with all the poverty and crimes he had.
Having no choices at all, Romano decided to utilize what he’s best at, stealing.
Sample Post: It’s a fine morning, Lovino had thought to himself. The sun shines brightly and the weather is perfect. The market is crowded as usual. Peoples walked through each other, paying little to no attention to their surrounding, wanting to finish their business here as soon as they can. A perfect opportunity for him. Lovino smirked and scanned his surrounding for the perfect prey. Then his eyes landed on a man.
The man was around 40 to 50 years and his appearance reminds people of a thug. The man was now walking to his direction, roughly shoving a young woman away. When the young woman fell, the man paid her no attention. And that attitude was what assured Lovino that this man was the perfect prey.
He walked pass the man, whistling, and skillfully slipped his hands to the man’s pocket. Got it. When his hand has gotten hold of what he wanted, he carefully slipped it out. This is the most crucial part of all. One wrong move and the victim would notice that something’s missing. Lovino gulped. But, he succeeded anyway. Still whistling, he turned left and went into a dark alley. There, he leaned back against the damp wall and took the wallet out.
He frowned.
The wallet is empty. So much for today’s bounty. He sighed, disappointed, and threw the wallet to a nearby trash can.
He was just about to get out from the alley when his eyes caught the silhouette of the very same man whose wallet he had just thrown to the thrash can not long ago. “ Whoops,” Lovino said in a very annoying tone. The man cursed in Italian, something about kids these days and about how he needed to properly educate them, and to Lovino it seemed to him that the man is drunk. Badly drunk. The man proceeded towards Lovino. Lovino didn’t move an inch, curious on what the man would do.
The man tried to punch him, but Lovino evaded it with ease, and it resulted in the man falling face-first to the bricks of the road. Lovino winced. Now that looks hurt. He walked around the collapsed man. Had this old geezer lost his consciousness? He decided to poke the man. With his foot of course.
Upon feeling Lovino’s boots, the man’s hand moved quickly in a desperate attempt to catch him. But today Lady Luck seems to favor Lovino, and so, he was able to get away from it before it was too late. And Lovino decided that it was better for him to get away from here now. But not before saying a good farewell to his victim.
“Next time, be more careful. You’re in Mezzogiorno after all!”
Notes: Mezzogiorno generally refers to the southern part of Italy.
