Good day to you all~ I just thought I'd post up an idea running around in my head for the past week. My ipod really loves this forum, and keeps playing appropriate songs in various situations or good to compare with the various nations. either in sound, lyrics, or name So I thought it would be fun for people to post up what song they think of when they think of various nations. It'd be a fun way to expand our play lists and discover new music we all might enjoy if we haven't heard of it before. Mine are pretty lame thus far :\ I listen to a lot of crap. Especially symphonies or folksy stuff of late A couple would be... Canadian Railroad Trilogy (duh Canada :\) And for some odd reason when rping with France 'Spirit of Paris' keeps rolling around from my National Treasure OST ... Also, One Week makes me think of some very... Comedic Hetalia moment possibilities. For all the countries :\ but I may be more insane than I thought.

I think a lot of folk songs suit England, especially the really, really dirty/bloody ones.
Folk songs nice? NEVER.
Try looking up "Marrowbones" or "Matty Groves."
The latter can be summarized as "It starts with adultery and ends with a double homicide."

I was listening to Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida' album and I was like, this is so England, oui?
Anthony Green's song 'Baby Girl' is like, the Fra/Sey anthem for me - that and Cobra Starship's 'Good Girls Go Bad' XD
I think 'Normal Guy (Interlude)' by The Lonely Island is totally for Russia/restoftheAllies
France's theme songs would be, 'Jizz in my pants' by The Lonely Island, 'I'm A Flirt' by R. Kelly, and a bunch of other offensive songs lol
Hm, 'Into The Ocean' by Blue October is a good song for Sealand~
I like Russia/Ukraine and I think 'House Fire' by Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin fits 'em. And it's funny cause yknow, Boris Yeltsin = Russia...sorry I have a horrible sense of humor.
I'm outta ideas. Yeah, so that's it ;w;

Just adding a little. Sey, won't Viva la Vida matches Prussia better than England? But that's according to me~ since the song's about a once-ruler of the world, no? And well... Prussia's basically gone now. And uh... since I didn't hear so many songs... maybe, the song "You Belong with Me" by Taylor Swift could describe America, England, and Japan's relationship? America is demanding sometimes~ -is shot-

Hm... I think a lot of pairings are suited to John Mayer's "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room," particularly the love/hate ones (or for that mater, hate/hate).
I mean the lyrics go:
It's not a silly little moment It's not the storm before the calm This is the deep and dying breath of This love we've been working on
Can't seem to hold you like I want to So I can feel you in my arms Nobody's gonna come and save you We pulled too many false alarms
We're going down And you can see it too We're going down And you know that we're doomed My dear, we're slow dancing in a burning room
I'm thinking Russia/America and England/France, though I'm voting more for England/France.
And I know this is probably way off base, but I can't help but think of Lithuania with the lyrics for "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand (I only recently found out that it's meant to be a reference to the beginning of WWI, with the assassination of the band's namesake).
If I wane, this can die If I wane, this can die I want you to take me out
If I move, this could die If eyes move, this could die Come on, take me out
I know I won't be leaving here I know I won't be leaving here I know I won't be leaving here I know I won't be leaving here with you
Or alternatively, I suppose it's a reference to Prussia or Austria or both.

For American society, I would have to say "The New National Anthem" by Strata. A lovely song I dare to say. For America himself, I think of "Believe" by Aiden though the lyrics don't generally fit him, I just think of him as well as "Welcome to Oblivion" by Madina Lake (on a more serious note of his personality).
As for America and England's relationship after the Revolutionary War, I would have to say "Lonely People" by Augustana and "A Sight to Behold" by Eisley.
For England, I think of "The Business of Paper Stars" by Hawthorne Heights and "Come Here Boy" by Imogen Heap. Though many songs makes me think of him.
I don't know why, but "Lighthouse" by The Hushed Sound reminds me of Liechtenstein or Seychelles, more Liechtenstein though.
That's most of it though. Anything classical music reminds me of Austria.

So I'm guessing it was like, totally made for Arthur.

omg I don't like John Mayer much but Slow Dancing In A Burning Room is such a good song. Along with Daughters and Dreaming With A Broken Heart.
Omg, have you seen this old couple covering Take Me Out?

When I think about Europe as a whole, the two songs that always comes to my mind are 1. Muse's "Times Is Running Out" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLL2jkD-RZE) I wanted freedom bound and restricted I tried to give you up but I'm addicted
2. My Chemical Romance's "Famous Last Words" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6vUzmNbzRQ) Can you see My eyes are shining bright 'Cause I'm out here On the other side Of a jet black hotel mirror And I'm so weak Is it hard understanding I'm incomplete A love that's so demanding I get weak[/color]

Daaaaaamn, The Hush Sound? My iPod lies to me. :c
Also, I'll have to say that Serenade from the album Nudy Show (don't remember the artist) reminds me of USUK in some parts, but that's just me.

Well, not all of these are perfect matches, but in general, they do make me think of these characters, even if it's just a stray line here or there.
For Switzerland, typically "Next Contestant" by Nickelback in reference to all the people who support Liechtenstein with anyone but Switzerland. It's really more the general feeling of the song.
When I think Denmark/Norway, I like "Do I" by Luke Bryan, this would be after Norway is no longer under Swedish rule (all the way to modern) or right at the end of the Denmark-Norway kingdom. Runner ups in this category: "Fairytale" by Alexander Rybak, "Cara Mia" by Mans Zelmerlow and "Believe Again" by Brinck. All four of them are from Denmark's POV, so, he can be a little delusional.
For Spain/Romano, I like "Hey Juliet" by LMNT. Not really much to add about that. Spain's POV. "I am Understood" by Relient K is Romano's POV.
For Latvia/Sealand/Latvia, I like "Some Hearts" by Carrie Underwood and "I Could Get Used to This" by Everlife. Latvia's POV. "Stand Out" by Tevin Campbell is just for Sealand.
Haha clearly masculinity oozes off of me. But hey, if it's a fitting song, it's a fitting song.
Ok, now for America talking to England during the Revolution, I like "Let Me Be Myself" by 3 Doors Down and after the Revolution, England singing about America would be "What Hurts the Most" and you can pick whatever singer, there's like 4 or 5 covers.
Oh, and just as an entertaining note! I like WuHa by Wilber Pan for Hong Kong/Taiwan, but you have to see the music video for it to make sense. China, Japan and Korea each get to fill in parts.
So bam, you've just been Switz song mixed.

anyway~
all I have is 'The Coldest Heart' by The Classic Crime for Russia/China. In that order. 'Sunrays and Saturdays' by Vertical Horizon = England/America. In that order as well~
OH LULZ AND 'Something There' from Beauty and the Beast XDD also for Russia/China...China/Russia since Belle sings first XD

Going through my favorites on Youtube (since my iPod is in the car and therefore inaccessible to a lazy me), so let's see what we have!
"Lullaby for a Stormy Night" by Vienna Teng kind of makes me think of Roma-jiichan singing to the Italy brothers. XD It just seems like the sort of thing he would sing to them about - the fact that they shouldn't fear the storm, but he'll stay there and make sure they're safe anyway.
"Boats and Birds" by Gregory & The Hawk -- England singing to America. Of course, this song is like any parent singing to their child... It's just... It fits perfectly with England and America, because it talks about going over the sea to the West...
"Who Wants to Live Forever" by Queen seems to fit China fairly well. Because, you know, the whole immortality thing... >_>
"Europa" by Globus simply makes me think of all of Europe, because that's what the song is about - all of the battles and wars that led Europe to be what it is today. And seriously!! I think of this song EVERY TIME I see "Europa" on the boards here... >_<
...Yeah, that's all I've got for now... >_>
