Canon Character Application
My name is Aziza and I am fourteen years old. I want to join this site because Hmm~ I like Hetalia. I like roleplaying. I like fantasy. Sounds good to me~! Also, I‘ve wanted to contribute to a roleplaying community like this since I joined the fandom. Practicing roleplaying Poland and roleplaying in general wouldn‘t be bad, either~. I have been roleplaying for Two years of kiddie stuff and one year at a higher-ish level and I normally post between the 200+? mark. Here is my application:
Character name: Feliks £ukasiewicz | Poland
Age: He’s over one thousand years old, but looks nineteen.
Appearance: Feliks can very easily be mistaken for a girl, thanks to many of his more… feminine features. The most obvious thing is his hair, golden blond, that comes all the way down to the beginning of his neck. His eyes, an ever-sparkling green, are big and wide, very much resembling a girl’s. He’s rather pale as well. Poland’s shoulders aren’t very broad and he’s not very well-built; he’s very slim, not fat, but not muscled either, save for parts of his arms which mainly come from the (very little) work he does in the fields, and fighting with old weapons. He’s a little taller than average, but short compared to others. Even the tiniest detail, such as his long eyelashes, point to being a girl, but there are some things that indicate his real gender. His facial structure for one; though he has slightly rounded cheeks and rather thin lips, the way his face is shaped is definitely that of a boy’s. Another thing is that though his shoulders are a little less broad than what’s considered completely manly, they’re still larger than a girl’s. He has many, many scars from partitions and other wars, but they are etched mostly into his torso and not anywhere else.
He has a tendency to cross-dress for fun. In his spare time, you might find him in a dress or some other kind of woman’s clothing-- and he even looks good in it. He really just dresses in whatever he wants-- this is mostly comfortable clothes, but he manages to make whatever he wears fabulous in one way or another.
Personality: Feliks is a rather boisterous person for the most part, whose opinions are voiced with such conviction and volume that they can be heard across Europe. He doesn't give up very easily-- it is unknown if this inhuman endurance can be attributed to his stubborn nature or just stupidity. Feliks is confident and independent, almost negatively so. He figures he can do everything by himself until it goes wrong, upon which he needs instant assistance-- sometimes he can expect too much of people. He’s also quite oblivious to suffering of any level in other people, or perhaps he chooses to ignore it. Feliks sees people as mostly all black or all white; Russia is like, seriously black and Lithuania is white to like, the max. The only thing is that, like, Liet is always letting Russia push him around--but in that case, he can expect Poland to come save the day! Poland doesn't like his friends being bullied by anything or anyone and always sees what he's doing as right, never considering the other side of the story. He's very selfish and childishly wants what he thinks is best. He’s a very jealous person.
He is really not much of a thinker and more impulsive on his feelings. His mind wanders when it comes to the many, many things that don't capture his attention; such things go in one ear and out the other without being registered at all. To his aggravation, other Nations sometimes take advantage of his brainless moves.
He doesn't like being taken advantage of at all and despises it when people aren't showing their true feelings as he thinks they should. However, Feliks has a very, very bashful side that shows when he meets someone new. Also, when it is finally, obviously, painfully clear to him that he has made some sort of mistake, he can get very flustered and embarrassed. He tries to deny his error or formulate an excuse as to why he messed up, but he's a rather terrible liar.
Occupation: Feliks is a mounted unit for the most part-- he fights best on a horse, since it doesn’t require running around himself and he‘s been doing it since he was small. He sometimes uses guns but has a load of weapons from his younger days shoved rather clumsily into his closet-- a few swords of varying lengths, a bow and arrow or two, and long, thin lances. He uses such lances the best, though he can’t be bothered to carry them around unless he knows he’s going to need them. He carries around matches though-- it doesn’t sound very menacing but Poland can use them to his advantage on various occasions. Poland can also use a little magic, mainly fire magic, though it’s rather limited and he messes up a lot.
Strengths: If you’re talking about fights, his number one strength would probably be that Feliks is so endurable. He will fight long and hard and doesn’t surrender very easily. He’s very fast on his horse and is very good with whatever he‘s used to, most especially offense. He‘s optimistic and confident, almost overly so, but this can be counted as a strength.
Weaknesses: Battle-wise, Feliks is rather terrible at adjusting to any kind of fighting other than the kind he has been using. He doesn’t have much stamina or strength, and his battle tactics mostly consist of the policy, “Charge and hit hard.”
To say the least, Poland’s not very good at using his head, on the battlefield or otherwise. He can be very forceful with his opinions and is so sure of himself that he believes he doesn’t need allies. Once something goes wrong, however, he becomes terribly dependent. He is also rather lazy when it comes to necessary things he’s not interested in…Poland can be almost unreasonably shy around people he doesn’t know, and has all sorts of trouble with diplomacy…
Backstory: Poland's first memories are from the year 966, when his first ruler, Mieszko I, was baptized and declared a patch of land and its inhabitants Christian as well. Over the course of two hundred years, Poland's lands and people fragmented into smaller kingdoms and spread out, due to the constant fighting of nobles. It was a particularly hard time for Poland, under the dizzying stress of constant warfare, especially since he as a nation was still a child…During this time magic nor technology interested him much. He and his people mainly farmed for a living.
Though still fragmented, he slowly began to grow and the pieces began to come together. He brutally invaded Russia, Belarus and Ukraine’s house as he grew older, resulting in his growing even stronger. That was also the first time he’d ever heard of his future best friend Lithuania, who was also leading invasions against Ruthenia.
In 1320 he was finally fully reunited as an entire country. Later he met Lithuania for the first time and they made a personal union through the marriage of their rulers. Poland started to try and better himself by taking up technology and magic at this time, too. Magic came somewhat easily-- it took some hard work but he eventually learned how to use basics. Technology-- he invented things but they ended up confusing him or not working out in the long run. He started to make other friends, too. After a time, he and Lithuania had their own union and formed the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, with really nothing in common but enemies. But after time they became close. Initially Poland took advantage of Lithuania and his people, even tried to strip his friend of his culture, but then began making reforms to better suit the other nation. This was easily the best time of his life.
Then Sweden beat up on him and there were suddenly uprisings everywhere. With the uprisings came poverty and illness, and his population decreased significantly. …Despite this, he beat up Turkey in an attempt to save Austria from him-- which totally worked.
After a few years of living hell, he was totally ganged up on by a few of his neighbors including--like, guess who?-- Russia. Of course it was during this time that his people stopped fighting with each other and started uniformly fighting against the partitioners, but to no avail. But they also advanced in technology again and again, and Poland got better-- if only a little bit-- at magic. He had to put up with having no land for a while though, unsure if he was going to live or die.
After World War One, he finally had his land again. With the land came many conflicts, including a war against Russia. Fortunately, Poland pretty much wiped Warsaw’s streets with Russia’s face, reaffirming his independence for a while. He kinda had a fight with Lithuania at this time too....
World War Two… Once again, he had gotten ganged up on and taken over completely-- well, not completely. He fought on despite his actual land being gone-- his people and he helped the allies in any way they could and constantly staged uprisings, a few of which worked out rather well…until Russia messed up all of his hard work.
Coming out of the war, Poland was in a really bad position, but he has gotten better…somewhat… He still works on magic and especially technology.
Sample Post:
Lithuania was constantly worrying.
Poland knew that already, in the few months they‘d been partners now, real, true partners living under one roof. He worried about everything-- everything. In contrast, Poland tried hard-- or, really, he didn’t have to try-- to not let any adversity really get to him. It was somewhat difficult in the presence of ever-anxious Lithuania, but so far he’d been doing well. They were headed towards a prosperous time in their lives, anyway… so why was it that tonight Lithuania decided he would take whatever concerns he had to bed with him? This was even more aggravating. He was asleep, but he kept tossing and turning, and making weird sounds-- the symptoms of a nightmare, maybe? In the darkness Poland squinted at the other half of the commonwealth, trying to find out what was so bad that Lithuania had to ruin Poland’s normally peaceful beauty sleep. After a few seconds of trying to decipher his friend’s incessant, worried muttering, Poland gave up and smashed a pillow onto the troubled sleeper’s head.
“Like, Liet!” He shrilled, crossing his arms, “Stop that! We’re like, getting up early for Mass tomorrow and I’m seriously not planning on missing it because of you!”
It took Lithuania a moment too long to coherently respond, so in that moment, Poland impatiently brought the wrathful pillow upon his head once more. Usually it was Lithuania complaining about Poland’s bothersome sleep habits-- like keeping the beddings to himself or putting his limbs over Lithuania in painful ways… Poland never paid attention to those scoldings, of course, but he remembered Lithuania saying something about them now.
“What?” Lithuania yawned sleepily, rubbing his head with slight annoyance. Poland pouted at him. “…What?” he repeated dumbly. After a few more moments of crossly glowering at him, Poland enlightened his friend of the irritation he was causing.
“…You keep like, tossing and turning!” Poland shouted, flailing his arms. “It’s really annoying ‘cause I can’t sleep when you keep doing that!”
[[Okay! Sorry if I'm late~ School and home got a little hectic, I hope it's not bothersome.
Um! So, yeah, I don't think I did really well on this one... The sample is a little thing I was doing with my friend at the same time as this so I thought I'd use it. I hope it's okay enough ^^;
